It’s been almost six years since Microsoft unveiled Windows 10, which was being dubbed as the last version of Windows. But 11 feature updates later we are now looking at the Windows 11 launch in an online Microsoft event.

Thanks to the leaked build, we already know many things about Windows 10. But of course, Microsoft had more to offer.

Windows 11 Features Overview

Microsoft has added the following features to Windows 11:

  • New Windows Setup UI
  • New Start Menu
  • Centered Tasbkbar with redesigned icons
  • Revamped Action Center with rounded corners for quick action buttons
  • Multi-monitor support: Windows 11 can remember window positions
  • Microsoft Teams integration
  • New shortcut to directly call contacts
  • New Windows 11 widgets (full-screen experience in tablet mode)
  • Changes to make your tablet experience better
  • New touchscreen keyboard with focus on emojis
  • New Microsoft Store

Windows 11 comes with various changes that you don’t see with the naked eye. It has reduced boot times, faster wake from sleep, faster Windows Hello, 40% smaller Windows Updates, reduced energy consumption, etc.

The revamped Microsoft Store now comes with a redesigned entertainment section and support for unpackaged .EXE and .MSI Win32 apps. There is a new Xbox app as well.

New Snap Assist now gives us more ways to arrange multiple app windows on the desktop screen. One interesting thing is Windows 11 can also remember the arrangement of app windows you choose; the feature is called Snap Groups.

When is Windows 11 going to release?

As of now, Microsoft hasn’t revealed the exact release for Windows 11. But the company has said that the Windows 11 update rollout will begin in late 2021 and continue through early 2022.

Your PC should meet the system requirements and should be running the latest Windows 10 updates to get the Windows 11 upgrade. All compatible devices will not be getting the update at the same time.

Also, Microsoft has confirmed that PCs Windows 11 pre-installed will be available later this year.
